Results of Agrimonde foresight study, Global food and agricultural systems in 2050: Montpellier (France) - October 9, 2009

The Agrimonde foresight study, a joint initiative of INRA and CIRAD, represents a collective discussion on the challenges facing global food and agricultural systems. Its results will be presented during a symposium on 9 October 2009 and discussed by specialists from the relevant fields to create a basis for greater dialogue between the stakeholders.

How can 9 billion people be fed in 2050 while sustaining the ecosystems that support other functions and resources such as carbon storage, biodiversity, bioenergy, and biomaterials? Agrimonde is not only a strategic discussion tool for these challenges, but also anticipates the fundamental issues that will face agricultural research. Through the initiative, INRA and CIRAD have created the means to contribute to international debate on food and agricultural questions, as well as lay the foundations for the direction of future research.

Results from Agrimonde will be presented during a symposium on 9 October 2009 and discussed by specialists from relevant areas to create a basis for greater dialogue between the stakeholders.
