Young Researchers Seminar : 25th-30th March 2010 Montpellier, France
We are very pleased to note that our initiative has received such an enthusiastic response from young researchers from all over the world. We have received 300 applications in all!
An International Selection Committee composed of J. Brossier (FI4IAR), J. Daane (ICRA, Wageningen), N. Ghezae (IFS), P. Hinsinger (Inra, Ecole Doctorale Montpellier), G. Gryseels (CGIAR, Chair ; Board ICARDA), L. Fortmann (University of Berkeley), A. Tschannen (YPARD), and chaired by B. Hubert (FI4IAR) convened in the end of November. The committee was faced with the daunting task of selecting 40 most suitable dossiers out of all those received. Please find below the results of the selection: 1. Main List (40 selected candidates) 2. Complementary List (12 candidates): the candidates, in the order of priority established in the list, will be contacted in case there are any withdrawals from the main list. We would like to once again thank all those who applied to this seminar. Given the limited number of seats available, we unfortunately could not accept all the applications. We hope to continue to organize this bi annual seminar in the future and strongly encourage those who are not selected in this round to apply for the next session. YRS 2010 The French Initiative for International Agricultural Research (FI4IAR: a joint venture of Inra and Cirad) in collaboration with Agropolis Fondation and with the support of the Young Professionals’ Platform for Agricultural Research for Development (YPARD) is organizing its first biennial seminar for young researchers working in developed and developing countries from the 25th-30th March 2010. Envisioned to be a regular event, the first of a series of Young Researchers Seminar (YRS) will take place just before and overlap with the Global Conference on Agricultural Research for Development (GCARD), scheduled for 28 March – 01 April 2010. Entitled “Exploring Agricultural Research for the future: a dialogue between young researchers from the South and the North”, the event will provide an opportunity for doctoral and post doctoral students to dialogue and to establish links between young researchers from the North and the South.
